MAWKYRWAT: A one-month long training for local community capacity building on creation of jewellery, utility handicraft based on forest produce/ waste material – production support and market linkages under Handicraft Promotion Scheme was organised by the District Commerce & Industries Centre (DCIC), Mawkyrwat in collaboration with Neera Creation, Tezpur, Assam at Photjaud Village, South West Khasi Hills District concluded on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, SWKH Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo lauded the office of DCIC for organising the programme which aimed at enhancing the livelihood of the people in the area. She thanked the trainers, Meera Sharma and her team for their selfless services given to the people.
Meanwhile, General Manager, DCIC, Nongstoin, U Muktieh said that the creativity, dedication and hard work to produce beautiful jewellery out of a simple bamboo and cane by the trainees is an inspiration for officers to be more dedicated in the service to them and artisans at large.
