Ayushman Bharat Diwas in Tura, Nongpoh

TURA/NONGPOH: A flurry of activities was carried out in Tura Civil Hospital to celebrate the mega health scheme- “Ayushman Bharat Divwas”, on Monday, as a part of the “Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara (Fortnight)” to amrk the 1 year milestone of the two pillars of Ayushman Bharat which include Pradhan Mantri- Health and Wellness Centres and Pradhan Mantri- Jan Arogya Yojana (P.M.J.A.Y.).
As part of the celebrations, there was screening undertaken for Non Communicable Diseases (N.C.D.) by the N.C.D. Unit of Tura Civil Hospital where the public were screened for NCDs like diabetes and hypertension.
Continuous video screening of the Ayushman Bharat P.M.J.A.Y. programme was also done in the Hospital premises during hospital hours. Continuous announcements were also made over the Hospital P.A. system about Ayushman Bharat programme.
A one-day beneficiary identification and registration session was also held during the day. The activities ended with a short official programme in the afternoon held among the doctors and staff of Tura Civil Hospital in their Conference hall, in which a Short Yoga Session was held for those present.
John Beryl K Marak was also felicitated for his contributions to the Ayushman Bharat P.M.J.A.Y. in Tura Civil Hospital. The programme was attended by the Joint Director Health Services, Garo Hills Division, Minakshi A. Sangma along with other senior health officials.
Meanwhile, in Nongpoh, together with the rest of the country, the office of the District Medical & Health Officer, Ri Bho, Nongpoh launched the Ayushman Bharat Diwas in a function held at the Civil Hospital Conference Hall, Nongpoh on Monday.
Local legislator of Jirang, Sosthesnes Sohtun inaugurated the programme in the presence of Balajied Ranee, MDC of Nongpoh, Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah, DM&HO M. Mawrie, G.B Mihsil, Medical Superintendent, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Mawrie informed that in Ri Bhoi, two PHCs and ten Sub-centres were chosen as health and wellness centres for the year 2018-19, whereas for 2019-20, the government has selected six more PHCs and 11 sub-centres, therefore, totaling the overall count of wellness centres in the district to 8 PHCs and 21 sub-centres. Moreover, the beneficiaries who have enrolled themselves in the schemes are 54 percent and about 2,457 beneficiaries will be benefited by the schemes.
Meanwhile, the MLA of Jirang Sostheness Sohtun inaugurated the new ambulance of Civil Hospital Nongpoh sanctioned for Rs 8 Lakh under Meghalaya Health and Insurance Scheme (MHIS).
