Meet to improve roads in Golf Links area

SHILLONG: A meeting was held in the office chamber of the Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong in charge of PWD (Roads) on Wednesday to discuss on the construction/improvement of roads in and around Golf Links area.
This will likely include five new roads such as Shillong Secondary School (near Lumjingshai) to Police Training School, Mawroh, Shillong Secondary School, Mawpun, 2-link roads within Mawpun locality, Short round road to Community Hall of Golf Links, Pynthorumkhrah locality and slab cover drain from Pynthorumkhrah to Golf Links, under pass from Elliot Ride road to Chandmari.
The proposed road will traverse a length of 346 m +501 m (link to Mawpun locality) through the land belonging to Forest department. Total area of land required from the Forest department is approximately 6215 sq. m.
The proposed road will traverse a length of 794 m along the Golf Course, the area required from Golf Course is 13065.50 sq. m.
For the road, approximately, 360 trees will have to be cut (Forest land is 70 in and in Golf Course is 290 trees), the total number of land required for the link road at Mawpun from SRGT is 706.25 sq. m.
