Campaign for sustainable environment

Nongstoin: The ‘Angikaar campaign’ to embrace change for sustainable environment was launched in Mairang by Syiem Hima Nongkhlaw, PM Syiemlieh on Wednesday.
It was organised by MUDA, PMAY (U) CLTC, Mairang in collaboration with Sub-Divisional Officer (C), Mairang Civil Sub – Division at the Conference Hall SDO (C) Mairang Civil Sub – Division.
Glory T Kamar, Capacity Building Specialist, PMAY (U) CLTC Mairang, informed the gathering that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna launched Angikaar, a three-month campaign starting from Wednesday to December 10 to mobilize PMAY (U) beneficiaries for behavioral change management.
The campaign will converge with various urban missions and schemes of other central ministries such as Ujjwala scheme for LPG connections, Ayushman Bharat health cards and Ujjala for LED light to facilitate PMAY (U) beneficiaries to avail the benefits of the schemes.
Kamar further said that the objective of Angikaar is to create awareness on best practices of water and energy conservation, waste management, health and hygiene, tree plantation and environment protection.
It also aims at engaging communities for a happier and healthier living by dedicating themselves to work towards social and environmental goals, she said.
During the technical session, topics covered include waste management and environment protection under State Investment Project Management and Implementation Unit and Ayushman Bharat/MHIS by Dr CL Challam, M&HO Tirot Sing Memorial Hospital, water conservation (Jal Shakti) by Range Officer, Soil and Water Conservation, SJ Kharlor and Go Green plant trees by Range Forest Officer (Social Forestry) Mairang Range, BM Kharkongor.
Others present include A Nongbri, SDO (C) Mairang Civil Sub-Divison, village heads, beneficiaries and other dignitaries.
