EPFO files FIR against MD of city hotel

SHILLONG: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made an allegation stating that the managing director of Hotel Pegasus Crown, Shillong who is also the proprietor of Delhi Mistan Bhandar, Kailash Verma, failed to deposit the employees’ share of provident fund dues from June 2012 to January 2018.
Rs 5,47,537 which has not been deposited in the EPF had earlier been deducted from the salaries of the employees. In a statement issued here, KK Srivastava, regional PF commissioner–II, EPFO, regional office, Shillong said that the offence committed by Verma is a criminal breach of trust.
He added that an FIR under IPC 406/409 has been lodged against Verma by the EPFO at Shillong Sadar Police Station.
IPC 406 deals with punishment for criminal breach of trust and IPC 409 deals with criminal breach of trust by a public servant, banker, merchant or agent.
