Training programme on app to monitor pregnant mothers

TURA: A two-day training programme to familiarise the district officials in using the android-based Sangrah app for collection of data to monitor the health status of pregnant mothers, concluded for the entire West Garo Hills District at the DRDA Conference Hall in Tura on Tuesday.
The training was held separately for officials of ICDS, Education Department, supervisors and Anganwadison Monday while training for medical officers, ANMs and health workers was held on Tuesday.
The mothers programme or ‘Meghalaya’s Outcome Oriented Transformation in Health, Nutrition, Education and Rural Development Programme’ is being implemented in all the districts to address the maternal and child health indicators as well as nutrition, education and rural development.
The programme was organised by the West Garo Hills District Administration in collaboration with a team from Centre for Digital Financial Inclusion (CDFI), Bangalore along with the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), New Delhi and MBDA.
Speaking on the occasion, DRDA project director and Additional Deputy Commissioner C N Sangma informed that this new initiative is being implemented and monitored by the planning department of the CMO in Shillong and the same is being organised in order to sensitise the concerned officials and staff of the respective departments and to discuss the implementation and modalities of the programme.
Meanwhile, Lewin Sivamalai from CDFI, Bangalore explained in detail about the android-based mobile application ‘Sangrah App’ and how to use and manage it.
He also mentioned that the application has already been implemented successfully in South West Garo Hills as a pilot project for monitoring pregnant mothers and institutional delivery in the Health Department which has increased from 40 to 80 per cent in the sub-centres and PHCs in South West Garo Hills.
Others who attended the programme included Shamim Azad, DDE, SWGH, Ampati also from CDFI, District Project Manager, Basin Development Unit, WGH, Tura V Valentine Hembron and other officials.
