Holiday declared for Shella voters

Shillong: The state government has declared that all government offices and educational institutions falling under 26-Shella (ST) constituency shall remain closed on October 21 so as to enable voters to exercise their franchise in connection with the by-election to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
Individuals employed in any trade, industrial undertaking or establishment governed by the NI Act 1881, including shops, employees who work in shifts, daily wagers, casual workers and those working outside the constituency shall be entitled to the benefit of a paid holiday as provided in Section 135B of the RP Act, 1951.
This was informed by the Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, General Administration (A) Department.
