SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said the former MLA of Shella, Late Donkupar Roy not only helped in the progress of the constituency but also played an important role in Meghalaya’s politics.
During a campaign at Bholaganj on Friday for the UDP candidate and Roy’s son Balajiedkupar Synrem , the chief minister said his party is supporting the UDP candidate as Roy was like a family member.
“We did many things together. We have worked together with Dr Donkupar Roy to take the state forward and bring development. That I am the CM is also because of Dr Don”, he said.
The chief minister told the gathering that it will be their loss if they do not elect the UDP candidate.
“Balajied Synrem, the government’s and the chief minister’s candidate, is in front of you today. If you vote for him, it would be akin to voting for the Speaker of the Assembly and the chief minister”, he said.
