TURA: The All Meghalaya Muster Roll Progressive Workers’ Union (AMMRPWU) has alleged that various departments in Garo Hills are not following the rules set by the central and state governments with regard to their services.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the union claimed that due to non-adherence of certain set rules by different departments, senior workers were being sidelined to make way for their junior counterparts during service regularisation.
“The rules set by the Centre and state government are not being followed. This is evident from the fact that those who have already worked for 20-36 years are being sidelined during service regularisation for those who started working just 4 or 5 years ago,” the union claimed.
The union also claimed that various dues of the workers including wages are also pending in almost all the departments despite assurance being given by Labour Minister Prestone Tynsong last year.
“During our meeting, we had sought the monthly release of our wages. However, the minister while declining to do so had instead assured that they would be released quarterly (every three months) as already decided by the government. But this assurance is not being kept by the government,” the union claimed.
The union has urged all concerned departments to release their pending dues at the earliest and while citing the rules under Office Memorandum, Administrative Reforms (B) Department of 1996, urges each and every department to regularise the services of MR workers as per merit.
The 2nd general meeting of the union will be held in Shillong on Saturday.
