Government to launch Nat’l Deworming Day today

Shillong: The office of the District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills District will launch National Deworming Day (NDD) 2019 at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Shillong on Friday at 11 am.
NDD will be observed on October 25 in all schools and Anganwadi Centres of East Khasi Hills with an aim to intensify efforts towards eradicating Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH).
The objective is to deworm all preschool and school age children between 1 to 19 years of age through the platform of schools and anganwadi centres.
The programme also aims to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.
It will be followed by a mop-up-day (MOD) on October 31 with the intent of deworming children, who missed the dose on Friday. All schools and anganwadi centres will be the implementation sites of National Deworming Day across the district.
