Margaret aims to win int’l arm wrestling title

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Arm Wrestling Association (MAWA) has announced that Margaret Pathaw will participate in the World Arm Wrestling Championship to be held at Constanta, Romania from October 26 to November 4.
“We are proud of Margaret, who will represent the state and country in the international level. Margaret has been the state champion for a number of times besides excelling in the national level,” the association said in a statement issued here.
She will be joining the 34-member team who will participate in this championship.
Every year Indian Arm Wrestling Federation team took part in the Asian and World Arm Wrestling Championship which were held every year in different countries and have won many medals.
Winners of the National Arm Wrestling Championship, which is held every year in different states, are selected to represent India in the Asian and World Arm Wrestling Championship.
The winners of different categories in the 43rd National Arm Wrestling Championship 2019, which was held at Bhillai Chhattisgarh in June, were selected to represent the country at the World Arm Wrestling Championship.
MAWA has thanked Sports Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh for his support which helped Margaret Pathaw to participate in the upcoming championship.
It further acknowledged the support of the Ri Bhoi Arm Wrestling Association for helping in raising of funds.
