Workshop on application of technology in research

SHILLONG: The first national workshop on the application of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) in Information and communications technology (ICT) Integrated Educational Research was inaugurated by J Mawthoh from the Department of Adult and Continuing Education, NEHU, Shillong, at the NEHU Computer Centre on October 29.
Mawthoh stressed on the need for quality research with special reference to North East and motivated the scholars through his speech in which he encouraged them to do their best when it comes to research.
PP Dey from NEHU Computer Centre was also present during the programme along with N Amareswaran, workshop coordinator, Department of Education, NEHU, Manoj Rana, assistant librarian, NEHU and JC Kalita, director of international relations, Gauhati University who delivered lectures on various applications of SPSS in educational research.
The participants, who have all completed two MOOC courses on Educational Research from World Class Universities of UK, were also imparted training through hands-on activities.
This was followed by a valedictory address by JC. Kalita who provided information regarding the scope of research for Indian scholars abroad.
Kalita also distributed certificates to all participants. The programme was sponsored by MHRD, Govt of India under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT).
Participants from Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Manipur, and Nagaland attended the programme.
