One killed, nine injured as vehicle falls into gorge

MAWKYRWAT: One Bolero Pickup carrying Jio Company workers fell into a gorge at Umjarain village, South West Khasi Hills District on Monday night wherein one person was killed on the spot and nine others were injured.
Mawkyrwat Police informed that the incident took place around 11 pm. The vehicle bearing registration number ML05R8822 was coming from Shillong and heading to Ranikor.
The deceased has been identified as Salmon M Marak of South West Garo Hills. While nine injured persons are Lankus D Shira (30) of Kharkutta, North Garo Hills, Punakon Koch (18) and Bishnu Koch (21) of Harigoan, Ampati, Rosirius Nongbah (19) of Nongmise, West Khasi Hills, Darius Tyrsa (23) of Riangdo, West Khasi Hills, Michael Wanwar (29) of Mawlong, Shella, Rimicky Sohtun (26) of Umwai, Shella, Jackson Sohlamar of Langdongdai, West Khasi Hills and Kyrshan Syrti (driver) of Umwai, Shella were injured.
The police informed that among the injured, three in critical condition were taken to Shillong and the rest were rushed to Mawkyrwat CHC for first aid.
