SHILLONG: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Executive Member (EM) in-charge of Information and Technology, Macdalyn S. Mawlong said the council will implement biometric attendance this week.
Speaking to a section of the press, she said, “The council will start to implement the biometric attendance, we are waiting to pass the office order”.
She however, expressed concern that no funds were allocated for the IT department and it had to be shelled out from her own pocket to procure Biometric License Keys which cost Rs 8000.
“Through the biometric attendance system, we can identify whether the staff are regular to the office or not”, she said adding that it will also detect the number of casual or permanent employees.
Mawlong rued that the IT department is ignored even as it is much needed in an age which is embracing advancement in technology.
On the other hand, she also informed that the KHADC has tied up with National Informatics Center (NIC) pertaining to professional tax and to computerise the system.
She also said that the executive committee of the KHADC has constituted the committee for Implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) projects headed by her. She informed that the department has sought over Rs 2 crore funds from the Centre.
