First farmers’ parliament held

Shillong: The Hill Farmers’ Union conducted its first farmer’s parliament on Wednesday at Khasi National Dorbar Hall. More than 500 farmers from different parts of the state participated.
The union president Commander Shangpliang thanked the government under the leadership of chief minister Conrad Sangma for supporting farmers and launching various missions in order to make Meghalaya as a leader, globally in agro & allied sector. The union also requested the government to announce 2020 as the Year of the Farmer’s & to notify December 4 as Meghalaya Farmers’ Day as desired by the farmers.
