SHILLONG: Winter has finally set in Shillong city and other parts of the state with the temperature dipping every single day, Shillongites are in a festive mood as Christmas draws near.
The temperature is currently hovering over 6 degrees in the last couple of days and sources from Indian Metrological department say that this is just the beginning and it will get colder as Christmas approaches.
IMD sources said that the minimum temperature in the city is expected to be 5-6 degrees while the maximum temperature will touch around 16 degrees for the next one week.
However , the cold and chilly weather has failed to dampen the spirit of Christmas as shoppers have started thronging commercial markets for their shopping while illumination of churches, trees, shops and different locations in the city have already started. The city is likely to get more busy in the coming days.
It may be mentioned that Shillong in the last decade has also become a favourite destination for many tourists to spend their vacation here amidst the fun and jubilations of Christmas.
