BSF seizes cattle in EJH

SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF), deployed at Mobile Checkpost on NH-06 at Kuliang in East Jantia Hills District, on Monday intercepted a truck and seized 42 cattle worth Rs 18 lakh. The troops, on the same day, also seized 60 cattle worth 8 lakh during various operations at the international border.
A statement issued said that the BSF, deployed in Jaintia Hills and South Garo Hills, had this week seized 324 cattle valued around 44 lakh, which were intended to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
The BSF, in its statement, also said that the troops, along with local police, have stepped up its special drive against cattle smuggling and will continue with the operations to thwart trans-border activities on the international border.
