SHILLONG: The state government delegation will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi after January 7 to discuss about the exemption of CAA in the whole state and the implementation of ILP.
As the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is out of station, the state government has not sought any appointment with the union minister, sources said.
When contacted, senior NPP leader Thomas Sangma said on Saturday that the state hopes to get an appointment with the union minister after January 7.
Sangma said the need to completely exempt Meghalaya from the purview of CAA and the matter related to ILP will be taken up during the meeting of the state delegation with Shah. The pressure groups are eagerly waiting for the next move of the state government regarding the ILP issue after the December 19 resolution on the matter was passed by the Assembly.
