Census director apprises CM of population status

SHILLONG: The Director of Census Operations, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, Joram Beda called on Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma to appraise him about Census of India, 2021 and updation of National Population Register in the state.
Bharati Chanda, Deputy Registrar General (Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh) and S Lingsamy, Jt. Director (Meghalaya) accompanied the Director on the visit.
The chief minister appreciated the importance and utility of census data in policy decision making for the state and for the country in general.
He also emphasised the need to sensitise the general public about Census and National Population Register through women Self Help Groups and Non-Government Organisations.
The Houselisting Operations of Census and updation of National Population Register in the state shall be carried out in between the months of April to September, 2020 within a period of 45 days.
