CM urged to resolve Rongjeng issues
TURA: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) from Mangsang in East Garo Hills has urged Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Rongjeng MLA Jim M Sangma to look into several problems being faced by the locals in the area. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the committee informed that the ongoing construction of the road from Rongjeng to Adokgre via Mangsang was being delayed due to which, people from the area, including those passing through, were facing hardships. The committee has urged that the matter is looked into at the earliest. Stating that the Jio tower in the area was yet to be made functional, the committee sought the intervention of both representatives in the matter. Besides, informing that the Mangsang Hospital has been without a doctor for six months, the committee has sought appointment for the same at the earliest.

Missing FIR registered
SHILLONG: The relatives of a person have filed an FIR at Mawdiangdiang Police Outpost after the latter went missing on January 12 from his residence. Wanbhalang Mylliempdah (29), who is at least five-feet tall, was last seen wearing a black jacket, red cap and blue slippers. The colour of his hair is black. The relatives filed an FIR the next day where they stated that Mylliempdah did not answer their calls. Mylliempdah hails from Siejiong village.

Unclaimed body
SHILLONG: The office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, has informed that on January 10, an unknown male body was found lying at Butcher Road near Bara Bazaar Fire Service Station and the same was shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong for conducting post-mortem examination following which, the body of the deceased is kept in CH Morgue Room for identification. The office has urged concerned individuals to contact Shillong PCR at 2222277 for identification and claiming of the body.

NHAI observes road safety week
SHILLONG: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Shillong organised a one-week road safety programme under the 31st Road Safety Week, ‘Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha’ from January 11 to 17 at the Shillong Bypass Road (Umiam village to Mawryngkneng village), in accordance with the Concessionaire of the project (Shillong Expressway Pvt. Ltd) along the highway in collaboration with and assistance from Umiam police station, Umroi PIC, Bansara Eye Care along with the community development programme of SOS village, Shillong. The concessionaire under NHAI organised a three-day free eye and medical check-up camp for truck drivers, a walkathon for road safety awareness, a rally with public announcement on road safety rules and distribution of reminder stickers to wear seat belts to vehicles on the highway.
