State bureaucracy sees another rejig

SHILLONG: The state government has once again effected a major reshuffle in the state bureaucracy.
According to the notification issued here on Monday, DP Wahlang, Principal Secretary of the Education and Labour department will also function as the Principal Secretary of Forest and Environment department.
MN Nampui, Secretary, Agriculture department, has been named as Director, National Health Mission and relieved of her responsibilities as Secretary of Cooperation department and MD of the Mawmluh Cherra Cements Ltd.
Pravin Bakshi has been posted as Commissioner of Excise, Secretary to Power and Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department and as Managing Director, Mawmluh Cherra Cement Ltd.
Bakshi will continue to function as the Secretary to the Governor.
RC Sohkhlet, Registrar, Secretary to Tourism department etc, will now also function as the Secretary of Prison department whereas WAM Booth, Joint Secretary to the Sports and Youth Affairs would now also function as Joint Secretary of the Cooperation department.
Shakil P Ahammed, Principal Secretary of the Power department, would also function as Principal Secretary of the Fisheries and Water Resources department, whereas Sampath Kumar, Commissioner and Secretary of the Agriculture and Water Resources department would also function as Commissioner and Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare department.
He, however, is relieved of his functions as the Commissioner and Secretary of the Agriculture, fisheries and Water Resources department.
CEO FR Kharkongor would also function as the Commissioner and Secretary of the District Council Affair whereas MR Synrem, Commissioner and Secretary of the Commerce and Industries and Transport department would also function as the Commissioner and Secretary of the IT and Communications department.
KL Nongbri, Joint CEO will also function as the Joint Secretary of the Arts and Culture department.
