GUWAHATI: Two ULFA (I) cadres suspected to be involved in the IED blast at Teokghat in Upper Assam’s Charaideo district on January 26 were arrested on Thursday afternoon. The cadres, Manas Jyoti Patmaut alias Bastab Asom (26) and Chow Lakhi Longno alias Rubul Asom (30), were initially interrogated by army officials at their Sapekhati camp and later handed over to Charaideo police, an official statement issued here on Thursday, said. The two cadres were part of the crack group led by Apurba Gogoi alias Arohan Asom, which is suspected to be behind the low-intensity blasts in Dibrugarh and Charaideo districts on Republic Day. It may be noted that there were recent inputs of the two being seen together near the Assam-Nagaland-Arunachal Pradesh border areas. One 5.56 mm AR HK-33 with 33 live rounds and two magazines were recovered from the duo. Police sources said interrogation was on and that all those involved in the serial blasts would be arrested soon.
