Border dispute lands headman in jail

Nongpoh: Ri Bhoi police on Friday arrested the Sirdar of Raid Tynring, Wording Nongrum for the alleged involvement in assaulting the villagers of Kyrdeng and six other villages in Ri Bhoi district based on the FIR filed by the headman of Kyrdeng village and other victims at Khapmara PIC.
As per sources, it was alleged that Nongrum along with his associates had on December 11 last year assaulted several people from Kyrdeng and other adjoining villages due to the issue of border dispute between the Raid Tynring and leaders of Kyrdeng and six other villages.
After thorough investigation by Ri Bhoi police, Nongrum was on Saturday forwarded to judicial custody.
