Fair price shop dealers want viable system

SHILLONG: The Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Association has written to the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma and Food and Civil Supply Minister James Sangma appealing them to make the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the state viable by redressing the grievances of the fair price shops.
In the letter to the government, the association has put forward a number of deamnds.
The association urged the government to fulfill their demands of Rs 160 per quintal as a profit margin for price, implementation of door-step delivery, ration cards for consumers as well as inclusion of items such as dal, sugar, edible oil, etc.
