DC calms nerves over coronovirus

SHILLONG: The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, Matsiewdor War, said there is no cause of alarm or concern in the district about the spread of coronavirus although people need to be prepared by following do’s and don’ts.
The DC held a meeting with departments of tourism, transport, police, education, food and health safety and doctors of different hospitals in connection with coronavirus preparedness on Monday.
She told reporters that update on the disease and different activities in which maximum publicity of the disease is to be done were discussed. “We need to be prepared although there is no cause for alarm or concern in our district. We have requested the member secretary to prepare the do’s and don’ts so that people will have an understanding of the disease and how to prevent it. We do not have any cases in the district,” she said. War informed that five beds have been kept specifically for the purpose at Civil Hospital in the city while NEIGRIHMS is the collection centre in case such a disease occurs.
