ITANAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday promised to make all the Northeastern states “problem free” before the 2024 general elections.
Addressing a gathering here on the occasion of 34th Statehood Day of Arunachal Pradesh, Shah said that there would be no existence of any dispute or contention in the region when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would approach people to vote for them in the Lok Sabha elections.
He said that the Centre is committed to solve all problems in the North East like disputes among the states, boundary clash, issues related to tribes, terrorism and many more. “The prime minister wants the whole North East problem-free. We would come in front of you with a problem-free North East while seeking blessings of citizens here after five years during general elections in 2024,” Shah said.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday pleaded with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to work out modalities for creation of separate Indian Administrative Service cadre for the state to ensure its speedy development.
At present, civil service officers working in the state are from the AGMUT cadre – a common cadre for Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories. (Agencies)
