SHILLONG: Minister for Arts and Culture in Meghalaya, A.L. Hek said that the Shillong International Center for Performing Arts may be inaugurated this year which will be a good platform for the local film makers to screen their movies.

“The civil works have been completed and 90 per cent of the work is almost complete while the interiors, sound system and other facilities are yet to be done”, he said during the premiere of Commander Shangpliang’s “9-Lad” movie at U Soso Tham auditorium.

Meanwhile, MLA from Mawsynram H.M. Shangpliang said that there has to be a film policy for the state to allow budding film makers to work in the film industry and the government can also think of providing subsidy to the film makers.

He observed that marketing strategy for the local films was also very weak and urged the state government to come up with a hall exclusively for the local film makers.
