SHILLONG: Arts and Culture Minister AL Hek said that the Shillong International Centre for Performing Arts may be inaugurated this year which will be a good platform for local film makers to screen their movies.
“The civil work is complete and 90 per cent of it is almost complete while the interiors, sound system and other facilities are yet to be done”, he said during the premiere of Commander Shangpliang’s 9-Lad movie at U Soso Tham auditorium.
Meanwhile, MLA from Mawsynram H.M. Shangpliang said that there has to be a film policy for the state to allow budding film makers to work in the film industry and the government can also think of providing subsidy to the film makers.
He observed that marketing of local films is also very weak and urged the state government to come up with a hall exclusively for local film makers.
