TURA: Employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), under the banner of the Non Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA), have served an ultimatum demanding the authorities to release their pending salaries by March 31, while warning of further agitations in the future if failing to do so.
The salaries of 24 months have been pending and various agitational programmes staged by the employees to demand the release the salaries in the past have fallen on deaf ears.
In order to get their demands released, the employees had organised a peace rally, sit-in demonstration, non-cooperation movement, donned black badges to work, staged a pen-down strike as well as gone on a mass casual leave, which have all proved futile.
The decision to serve the ultimatum comes as a last resort after all other steps taken by them to pressure the authorities failed to make an impact.
