TURA: Police in Garo Hills, despite having their hands full in dealing with law and order problems in the midst of the ongoing lockdown, have come forward to provide a helping hand to the needy by collecting essential food items and donating the same.
“We do not have much but whatever we get, we are contributing,” said West Garo Hills SP, MGR Kumar.
Police personnel from the WGH district arranged rice, onions, potatoes and other vegetables to hand over to poor villagers residing in Garobadha, Rongram and Jengal region.
Similar acts of generosity have been flowing in from police personnel from other districts as well.
One unarmed branch sub-inspector posted at Dimapara in South Garo Hills took it upon himself to donate five kg of rice and edible commodities each to eleven underprivileged families residing in Bandapara village near the international border.
Meanwhile, members of the Officers Club in North Garo Hills have also undertaken a relief distribution operation in their area by visiting homes of the poor in some villages to hand over rice and other food items.
