SHILLONG: As part of the implementation of the campaign by the Kayzey Society, a non-profit voluntary organisation and skill development academy, several households have received essential supplies such as rice, dal, sugar, potato, salt, etc., as the society has embarked upon a worldwide campaign against COVID-19.
This was announced by Kitkupar Chyne, CEO of the registered society. A campaign in phases has been designed by the society in coordination with various stakeholders to address several emergent situations arising out of the global pandemic.
It may be mentioned that Meghalaya along with the rest of India is under lockdown as a measure to prevent the spread of the dreaded virus which has infected more than 1 million people and killed more than 50,000 worldwide besides devastating the economies of the world.
It is in this context, the Kayzey Society has stepped forward to provide relief to a section of the community who has lost access to earnings and livelihood due to the nationwide lockdown.
The funds for delivering the supplies to the households are being met by the organisation from its own resources and gearing up with the next phase to reach out to 200 households in the border areas of the West Khasi Hills.
