Minister distributes essentials in city

SHILLONG: Urban Affairs Minister Hamlet Dohling on Wednesday gave a sack of rice, 13 bags of potatoes and 2 bags of onion to Lawsohtun Dorbar Shnong.
The minister also informed that as many as 30 localities in his constituency have benefitted with essential commodities which are being distributed through respective Dorbar Shnong.
NGO helps 120 families
Meanwhile, altogether 120 households in and around Polo and Pynthorumkhrah area on Wednesday received essential supplies such as rice, dal, sugar, potato, oil, etc., as part of the implementation of the worldwide campaign against COVID-19 organised by the Goreto Socio Cultural & Welfare Society, Shillong, a non-profit voluntary organisation.
The society is gearing up for the next phase of the campaign wherein it will try to reach out to 100-150 households that have lost access to earnings and livelihood due to the nationwide lockdown. The funds for delivering the supplies to the households are being met by the organisation from its own resources.
