Nagaland govt employees to resume work today
Kohima: All government offices in Nagaland, including the civil secretariat and the directorates in Kohima and Dimapur, will resume operations from Monday with skeletal staff, a memorandum issued here by Chief Secretary Temjen Toy said. The administrative heads of departments have been asked to prepare a roster for the employees and make necessary arrangements to ensure they adhere to the social distancing norms, it said. “The Nagaland civil secretariat, directorates in Kohima and Dimapur and all government offices in the districts shall resume their functioning with skeletal staff from Monday (April 13). “Those not attending office on a particular day should be available on phone and other electronic means of communication,” Toy stated on Saturday. Notably, the chief secretary, during a press conference on March 22, had announced that all government offices, both central and the state, barring those providing essential services, shall remain closed till further orders, as part of the government’s efforts to check the spread of novel coronavirus. Nagaland has not reported any COVID-19 case so far. With no testing facility in the state, the Health and Family Welfare Department has so far sent 70 samples to Assam and Imphal for examination, all of which reported negative for the disease. (PTI)

Mizoram to start virtual classes on television from today
Aizawl: In a move to reduce the inconvenience of students due to the lockdown, the Mizoram government has decided to introduce virtual classes on television from Monday. The school education department has decided to give lessons to students via television, an official release said here on Saturday. The lessons will be telecast daily from Monday to Saturday on Doordarshan Kendra Aizawl, the release said. The first daily half-hour lessons will begin from Monday at 3.05 pm for class 10 students on Science and Mathematics, it said. Televised classes will be held for students of other standards also, it said. Notably, the state government had on March 17 closed all educational institutions as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state. Meanwhile, the school education department has asked the students concerned to attend the televised classes from their homes along with notebooks and pens. The department also urged the students to give priority to the televised classes as the lockdown may be extended due to the spike in novel coronavirus case in the country. (PTI)

CRPF donates essential commodities to affected people
GUWAHATI: The 175 Bn Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted a civic action programme at Kapili picnic spot under Rani Block in Kamrup (Rural) district of Assam on Sunday. Foods items like rice, pulses, potatoes, onion, salt and oil along with various preventive items like Sodium Hypochlorite, spray machine, bleaching powder, hand sanitiser, hand wash, hand gloves, face mask, soap and immunity enhancing items like chyawanprash and Tab Vit-CEE etc. amongst 150 families of Amring, Dumupahar, Dekapathar and Narlung villages. The programme was graced by Subhash Chandra Sharma, Commandant, 175 Bn. Manoj Singh, Dy. Commandant, and officers and jawans alsoparticipated in the programme.
