SHILLONG: With a large number of citizens resorting to panic booking of LPG refills in the city, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Monday assured consumers that its supply chain is well prepared for the extended lockdown period and there is plenty of LPG cylinders for everyone.
An IOC official informed that vehicles carrying refills are operating 24 hours a day and added, “People are into panic booking thinking that they will not get gas. But no one should worry as there is no issue”.
Meanwhile, some residents of Nongmynsong were seen flouting the social distancing norm while waiting for their LPG refills despite gas agencies making it clear that cylinders would be home delivered to all customers.
One of the two delivery staff attending to consumers at Nongmynsong said that they have repeatedly informed their customers about the home delivery of LPG but people did not comply with the same.
“We have told the customers to stay at home and the LPG will be delivered to their doorsteps but they do not seem to understand due to panic”, the staff said.
