COVID patients stable, NEIGRIHMS activates 2 more testing machines: Conrad

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said that patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are under treatment in the state are stable.

He also informed that two more COVID-19 infection testing machines had been activated in NEIGRIHMS, Shillong with the capacity of 80 tests per day. The arrival of necessary cartridges is being awaited. The machines will be operational by next week.

 So far 933 samples have been tested and out of which 821 were tested negative.

Altogether 12 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in the state – eleven active cases and one death.  Results of 100 tests are being awaited.

“I would also like to inform you that the 12th patient, is a close friend of the family of the first COVID-19 patient in the state. I would also like to inform you that that person is under quarantine. Rapid antibody tests were conducted today on all the seven family members of the 12th patient and the results were negative,” Sangma said.
