HNYF urges for seeds, fertilizers to lockdown-hit farmers

SHILLONG:  Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) has appealed to the Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh with an appeal to provide the necessary requirements of the farmers.

In the letter, the HNYF urged the Minister to provide spice seeds, corn seeds, cucumber seeds, tomato seeds, fertilizers and pesticides such as Urea, Dithane Indofyl, Gems d, Dithane M-45, Anaconda 505.

The HNYF also stated that the farmers are in need of cow dung and other organic manure.

The organization has stated that an early intervention from the department is needed to see that inter-state and inter-district movements of such vehicles carrying manure is not affected by the lockdown.

The organization has urged Lyngdoh to designate areas in different parts of the districts for the farmers to sell their products in the upcoming month.

Lastly, the organization said that the government should come up with the maximum retail prices of these items to ensure that the farmers get the best deal.
