Nongpoh not a red zone, DC clarifies

Nongpoh: Sense of fear and panic struck the residents of Nongpoh area following a news report on the Facebook page of T7 News with the caption Kynthup ka sorkar ia ka Nongpoh ha ka red zone jong u COVID-19 (The Government has included Nongpoh in the red zone of COVID-19).
When contacted, Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, RM Kurbah clarified that the government has not yet declared Nongpoh as red zone of COVID-19 till now and that no positive cases has been reported either in Nongpoh town or the district.
She also informed that so far, 91 test samples of the primary and secondary contacts of the first COVID-19 victim in the district were sent for testing, out of which, 84 samples have tested negative and the remaining 7 were still awaiting reports. When asked if any actions will be taken against those responsible for spreading fake news, Kurbah said the state government will do that.
