Govt releases financial aid to stranded persons

SHILLONG: The state government has made a disbursement of the financial assistance to bank accounts of 5,087 persons stranded outside the state till today.
Speaking to reporters, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, “Till today, the government has transferred the one-time assistance of Rs 3000 to the bank accounts of 5087 persons stranded outside the state”.
Asked, he said that there is no information of those who are stranded outside India from the state. The Deputy Chief Minister stressed upon the opening up of bank accounts by the daily wage labourers in order to get the money from the government transferred to their bank account.
As per the statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the number of persons registered for CM’s Special Grant for stranded people is 10,287, and the number of persons verified for CM’s Special Grant for stranded people is 6878.
The number of unorganised labourers registered for Special Assistance of Rs 2100 is 2,33,193 while number of labourers verified for Special Assistance of Rs 2100 is 2,02,281.
The number of labourers who got assistance under Building and Other Construction Worker’s Act (Rs. 3000 each) is Rs 9,302.
Under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, 87,189 farmers from Meghalaya have been provided financial assistance of Rs 2000.
