SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has praised the relief works of Ramakrishna Mission Sohra on social media.
RKM Sohra has converted its tailoring unit into a temporary mask manufacturing unit where thousands of masks have been manufactured and distributed in hospitals, institutions and villagers.
It has also distributed PPE to various CHCs and PHCs in the state. The CMO said, “RKM Sohra has till date covered 29,945 families out of 30,000 villages wherein 750 tonnes of rice and 150 tonnes of dal were distributed to beneficiaries in nine districts and 13 C&RD blocks in Meghalaya covering a total of 1.96 lakh beneficiaries so far. The relief was sustained through private donations including CPC Meghalaya’s donation of Rs 2.51 lakh.”
Around 48,000 face masks were distributed to the families along with 3,500 PPE to healthcare workers. “Such acts of kindness and generosity in the times of adversity bring hope and restore the faith of humanity. Because of your generosity, the Government of Meghalaya was able to further its help and support to the affected citizens,” Sangma said in a letter to RKM.
Next, RKM is gearing up for an extensive corona relief in Ri Bhoi.
RKM Shillong is also extending help. It distributed essential commodities to 271 families covering five villages in East Khasi Hills district on Saturday under corona relief.
The hosting area was Mawsiatkhnam under Mawlai C&RD Block.
The Assistant Secretary, RKM, Shillong, Swami Divyaswarupananda Maharaj with Brahmachari Milan Maharaj, volunteers besides the Rangbah Shnong and members of Dorbar Shnong Mawsiatkhnam were present on the occasion.
