SHILLONG: As per the decision taken during the high level meeting held by the Minister of Urban Affairs and other officials on April 17, the Jhalupara Shillong Electric Crematorium will be used by the Shillong Municipal Board from 11 am to 2 pm daily for disposing of bio-medical waste.
The crematorium will be available for incineration of bodies not affected by COVID-19 from 3 pm to 9 pm daily from Monday until further notification by Greater Shillong Crematorium & Mortuary Society (GSC&MS).
However, for the cremation of bodies of COVID-19 patients, as per the protocol, only 20 people will be allowed to accompany the body provided they use face masks and gloves. The attendees will also have to maintain social distancing of minimum one meter.
