Highway, hospitals sanitised in Nongpoh

NONGPOH: A sanitisation drive in Nongpoh area including National Highway 6 from Mawdiangum till Umlyngkdait, Civil Hospital, Bethany Hospital Outreach, Petrol Pump and other vulnerable places was carried out by the Nongpoh Town Committee under the leadership of CB Syiem as chairman and Rayonald Kharkamni as general secretary, on Tuesday.
More than 4,500 litres of disinfectants, sponsored by the Jirang MLA, Sosthenes Sohrun, and CMJ Breweries, Byrnihat, were sprayed to sanitise the Nongpoh Town.
The drive was conducted by the Fire and Emergency Services.
Kharkami said that sanitisation of Nongpoh and the whole stretch of NH-6 was necessary as the area is one of the important routes and gateway to the state.
The general secretary of the committee suggested the government to disinfect incoming vehicles at designated entry point located at 12 Mer, Byrnihat, as many people of the state who are stranded in other parts of the Northeastern region as well as the country are expected to come home.
