SHILLONG: The Garo Students’ Union Raksamgre Regional Unit has alleged that the Dadenggre SDO (Civil), Sayid Fakhruddin Hamid, “hurled abuses” at the union general secretary, Tengroang R Marak, during a meeting to discuss matters relating to the present crisis, a statement issued here informed.
Hamid reportedly tried to incite an altercation with the union member pointing out at the juncture when there was opposition to the transfer of Ramakrishna Chitturi, the previous SDO of Dadenggre, the statement said.
“You (GSU) were the ones who protested against me while I was posted in Dadenggre and did not allow me to join,” the statement quoted Hamid as saying. The GSU general secretary told the SDO that the protest was never against him but for the government to understand that 7 months time was too short for an officer to be transferred, the statement said.
“We have a common enemy (COVID-19) to fight against in this time and not against each other. We should stand positive and be ready to face any situation. This is our appeal,” the GSU said.
Meanwhile, Rimjen Ch. Sangma, chairman of Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) Pedaldoba Unit, who accompanied the GSU Raksamgre Regional Unit general secretary for the meeting, has strongly opposed the behavior of the Dadenggre SDO and described the incident as “ugly”.
