SHILLONG: The GSU on Friday wrote to the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui urging him to exempt adhoc teachers from the deferment of salary.
In a statement issued here, assistant general secretary Salman D. Sangma said that deferment of teacher’s salary at this juncture is unfavourable and the adhoc teachers are in Group-D category.
Further, the union pointed out that the state adhoc school teachers receive a fixed salary of Rs 22,400, adding that they also receive their salaries quarterly.
They also said that the salary of some adhoc school teachers is less than a lower grade government employee.
In the letter, the union requested the minister to consider the grievances faced by the adhoc teachers by exempting them from the deferment of salary.
