SHILLONG: The Meghalaya House, New Delhi, said that the harassment charge against the house by Khasi Students’ Union, Delhi Unit, has been “misinterpreted” and contains “factual errors”.
In a statement, the Meghalaya House informed that the girl, for whom the union had written a letter to Chief Minster Conrad Sangma complaining about refusal of entry, had been attended to promptly and counselled.
As per the statement of the girl, Daniel Stone Lyngdoh of KSU, Delhi unit and someone from Meghalaya Police had instructed her to go to the Meghalaya House by crossing the border, thus resulting in flouting of lockdown protocol, the statement said.
On reaching Meghalaya House, officials had met the girl along with the police from Haryana and Delhi. Keeping in mind the safety of the girl and the residents of the Meghalaya House, she was briefed that in view of the lockdown guidelines and protocols issued by the Centre, “the Meghalaya House could not accommodate her as it was mandatory to follow the protocol”.
After her acknowledgement and agreement the girl was sent to the One Stop Centre for Women Shelter Home at Gurgaon, Haryana, the statement added. Maintaining that the establishment is facing crisis of manpower due to the lockdown, it informed that the Meghalaya House, New Delhi, has been functioning as the sole coordinating agency to facilitate essential medical supplies to Meghalaya.
