EJH boosts steps to prevent virus spread

KHLIEHRIAT: The District Magistrate of East Jaintia Hills has put in intensified measures to ensure social distancing in the district in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the district.
In a statement, the DC said that certain activities in the district have been prohibited between 6 ma and 7 pm daily until further orders.
The DC has prohibited assembly or gathering of 5 or more persons in public places besides inter-district and interstate movement.
Activities involving poisoning and use of dynamite in rivers or any other water bodies with explicit or implicit intention to cause destruction of aquatic life within the district are also prohibited.
Retail shops in every village will remain opened from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 1 pm, while wholesale shops will remain opened between 2 pm and 5 pm on the same days.
Retailers selling dry or processed fish will remain opened on timings for retail shops, while the wholesalers will open between 2 and 5 pm. All fair price shops will open daily between 9 pm and 4 pm.
Indentified hardware stores and electrical shops in the district will remain opened from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 1 pm.
Timing for wine stores
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Jaintia Hills, has informed that wine shops and bonded warehouses, which have renewed their licenses for the year 2020-21, are allowed to open from Monday to Friday.
The wine shops will open between 9 am and 1 pm and bonded warehouses will open between 10 am and 4 pm. The DC has asked the stores to ensure there is no overcrowding of people.
