NONGPOH: The Bethany Outreach Hospital in Nongpoh reopened its door to the public on Monday exactly 42 days after being sealed by the government.
The hospital reopened after completion of necessary protocols set by the state government and the Health department.
The government had sealed the hospital on April 13, after the owner, (L) Dr John Sailo Ryntathiang was detected positive for COVID-19 and later passed away.
The reopening ceremony of the hospital was attended by local legislator Mayralborn Syiem, Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, Chief Executive Officer of Bethany Outreach Peter Sailo Ryntathiang, Chief Financial Officer David Sailo Ryntathiang and Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. CM Pohshna, along with the medical fraternity of Bethany Outreach Hospital, Nongpoh.
Speaking on the occasion, both MLA Mayralborn Syiem and DC RM Kurbah recalled the services rendered by (L) Dr. Sailo and his vision to improve healthcare services in Ri Bhoi district and the state as a whole.
Meanwhile, Dr. Pohshna informed that only the Emergency OPD, Paediatrics, General Medicines and diagnostic centre will function for the time being as they have to strictly follow the protocols and guidelines.
Other departments will start functioning in a phase-wise manner with due adherence to the guidelines.
Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun also sent a letter to the hospital authorities expressing his best wishes to the medical staff who resumed their duty on Monday.
