Police detain 2 illegal coal trucks

SHILLONG: Continuing its crackdown on trucks carrying illegal coal, Ri Bhoi police on Saturday detected two trucks transporting coal.
Ri Bhoi police said that the two coal laden trucks bearing ML 10 B 2654 and ML 12 0592 transporting coal were detained on Saturday by the in-charge of Patharkhmah in Patharkhmah- Mairang road.
Both the trucks originated from West Khasi Hills district and a case has been registered.
It may be mentioned that there were several instances of illegal coal being detected even during the lockdown which began in March.
The state government continues to deny that illegal transportation of coal is taking place in the state.
