Cops look for third accused in Bakur assault

SHILLONG: West Jaintia Hills police is looking for the third accused for allegedly assaulting and tonsuring a 29-year old woman at Bakur village near Dawki.
As per the FIR, she was assaulted by three persons including Bobby Lamin, Jennifer Sumer and Donstan D Khonglah at Bakur village who are also the executive members of the Bakur Dorbar Shnong. So far, two people have been arrested in this connection.
As per the FIR, while the victim was returning home, Lamin assaulted and accused her of creating ‘nuisance’ in the village. It was unclear what provoked the assault on the woman.
According to the FIR, Lamin later came to the victim’s house and dragged her to the Dawki–Shillong NH 40. Later, Sumer and Khonglah, who were also present there confined her to a school and assaulted her again.
The victim was able to file a complaint with the help of Seng Samla Shnong on June 4.
