Fire breaks out at Baghjan gas well of OIL in Assam

GUWAHATI: A massive fire broke out on Tuesday at a gas well in Baghjan oil field of of Oil India Limited (OIL).
The fire broke out when experts from  Singapore who have been hired by  OIL, were on job to control the flow of gas from the well.The well No. 5 of the oil field  had suffered a blowout on May 27 last and natural gas was flowing out of it uncontrolled since then.
Panic has gripped the people of the surrounding areas after the fire broke out even as fire fighting operation was on to blow out the inferno.
Meanwhile, Assam Chef Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal called up Petroleum Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan  in the wake of the fire incident at Baghajan oil field and urged the later to take immediate steps to douse the inferno to save lives and property of locals.
The Chief Minister also called upon the people from the area not get panicky.
