Sonowal asks sports board to develop revenue model

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday has directed functionaries of the state’s board of sports to engage experienced consultants to develop a revenue model for making the sports complexes of the board sustainable.

During a review of the activities and programmes of the board during its governing body meeting here, Sonowal asked its functionaries to take urgent steps for upgrade of infrastructure incorporating modern amenities at Nehru Stadium and other sports infrastructure managed by the board.

He further instructed the board to take the help of print, electronic and social media for extensive publicity of the facilities available at the sports complexes so that young sportspersons could take maximum benefit out of them.

The chief minister further asked the board’s functionaries to prepare a plan for proper utilisation of the land available under the board indifferent parts of the State.

Earlier in the meeting, the secretary of the Board of Sports, Assam apprised Sonowal of the various infrastructure and facilities available at the sports complexes under the board.
